An open-source project from French developers

qBittorrent was originally developed by Christophe Dumez in March 2006 as part of his thesis when he was a student at the University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard.

Even today, qBittorrent is still very much in use thanks to a very active technical support presence, made possible by the generous donations of a large community of contributors, not to mention a dedicated team of volunteers who have made it their mission to maintain the software and introduce constant innovations to improve it.

Available in more than 40 individual languages, it is an international community of volunteers who strive to keep qBittorrent up-to-date and at the forefront of the P2P field, along with the steady stream of generous donations that keep the pulse of this open-source project beating.

qBittorrent from a technical perspective

qBittorrent is programmed using the C++ programming language, while relying on the libtorrent software library. Like qBittorrent, libtorrent is an open-source project that aims to implement solutions for the BitTorrent protocol, while providing support for IPv6 and distributed DHT hash tables that are required in order to find peers in a P2P network.

However, qBittorrent is dependant on other open-source projects in order to stand as the most comprehensive BitTorrent client out there:

• Boost is a library developed in C++ to support tasks and structures requiring linear algebra, pseudo-random number generation, image processing or regular expressions.

• Qttoolkit (version 4 and 5) is a set of applications tools for creating Graphical User Interfaces (GUI). These tools are cross-platform in nature and have very few lines of code that require modification, ensuring the qBittorrent GUI works as well on a Linux or Windows PC as it does on MacOS, Android or embedded UNIX-like systems.

qBittorrent brings together the best aspects of various open-source projects into a single software solution, taking advantage of the many possibilities of P2P via the BitTorrent protocol.

A well-known and reputable BitTorrent client

To send and receive (or “upload” and “download”) files with other users using the BitTorrent protocol, you will need to make use of a BitTorrent client.

Due to mistranslations, it’s not uncommon to hear individuals talk about BitTorrent in terms of a network, even though it’s primarily a protocol as we’ve already discussed. This protocol allows you to be connected and share via the use of software with others using BitTorrent clients other than qBittorrent.

There has already been significant controversy regarding the use of BitTorrent trackers. BitTorrent meta files do not offer any content in and of themselves, but they are what allow for the sharing of files that may be copyrighted content.

Is qBittorrent secure and safe to use?

As it stands, the world of BitTorrent clients offers a great deal of potential solutions to users, but not all of them are particularly useful or even adhere to proper use of the BitTorrent protocol.

QBittorrent is arguably the main competitor of uTorrent, offering more or less the same functionality. In reality, these two P2P clients have the same features, except that qBittorrent is an international open-source project. As such, the software offers Unicode support in more than 70 individual languages.

QBittorrent is designed to be streamlined and lightweight, without compromising on speed. As such, it’s one of the most popular BitTorrent clients currently available.

Unfortunately, as with most open-source software, qBittorrent’s GUI seems to have changed very little for the better in recent years. However, this is all just superficial. Behind a seemingly simple and stripped-back interface lies a full and robust suite of features that make it one of the best BitTorrent clients currently available for download.

Whether you’re a torrent fanatic who loves to download or you’re simply someone who wants to share large files with friends and family, qBittorrent has all the features you need to fulfil your goals.

qBittorrent is a software solution designed to be open-source, unlike counterparts like uTorrent. One thing to take comfort in is that, being open-source, qBittorrent benefits from many updates to rectify bugs and security flaws as they are discovered. What’s more, qBittorrent uses other open-source projects within its larger design, including libtorrent.

Key benefits and features of qBittorrent

Although it’s a free software, qBittorrent is an incredibly powerful solution. In fact, it boasts many features you wouldn’t normally find without the constant intrusion of unwelcome ads.

Admittedly, qBittorrent does include some advertising in order to be able to continue to support software development and innovations, but it is non-intrusive in nature. You can currently expect the following features and benefits, without having to pay a single penny for the privilege:

• It is the most similar BitTorrent software to uTorrent, allowing most users to delve into the world of free, open-source software with minimal hassle.

• The overall design is incredibly user-friendly and simple, requiring only basic knowledge of internet navigation in order to operate effectively.

• It already boasts an integrated (although optional) search engine feature in order to find BitTorrent metafiles (trackers) in order to commence downloads.

This means that if your file shares are throttling too much bandwidth and slowing down your internet network connection, you can alleviate the strain. For example, you can choose to loosen bandwidth restrictions during the hours you’d normally be asleep and not requiring a faster internet connection.

• It already boasts a tool for creating BitTorrent metafiles. As qBittorrent is a legal sharing software solution, it allows for metafiles to be created and shared between a larger group with ease. This is ideal if you’re looking to promote more active sharing activity.

• It is able to utilise port forwarding in order to avoid bottlenecks. IP filtering also adds a technical solution to bypass limitations of internet service providers in this regard. None of these technical solutions are in any way illegal. The practices of internet service providers is in fact far more questionable than any IP filtering and port forwarding activity a piece of software like this utilises.

• The software knows how to map UPnP and NAT-PMP ports. The UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) network protocol allows you to connect multiple devices to your home network more easily and communicate efficiently between these various devices for file sharing applications. NAT-PMP (NAT Port Mapping Protocol) automates the port forwarding process, allowing machines outside of your private network to connect to your home network from behind a NAT (Network Address Translation) gateway that can successfully match IP addresses with each other location.

• Since the qBittorrent project is an open-source venture (as are many other projects that qBittorrent benefits from) this software is one of the most stable and secure options out there. It’s continually evolving with new technological innovations and advancements in the field of P2P sharing.

• Although the interface might seem a little stripped-back and lacking, it contains all the necessary features required for the average user to successfully utilise this software. One of the biggest benefits of qBittorrent’s graphical user interface is that it is incredibly intuitive and easy to get to grips with. uTorrent users, for example, will have no trouble whatsoever finding exactly what they’re after here, with both graphical user interfaces very similar in design.

• The software supports several different types of BitTorrent extensions, including private torrent metafile sharing, encryption of network connections (your connections will be encrypted and completely protected), support for magnet links and much more besides. This is because qBittorrent is always up to date with new torrent extensions, meaning you’re never left dealing with an antiquated torrent client software solution.

• qBittorrent’s integrated search engine allows for simultaneous searches from several distinct sites indexing BitTorrent’s trackers. This is one of the most interesting features provided by this software, setting it apart from competitors by allowing you to simultaneously search multiple torrent sites for the desired file in the same way as P2P Emule software.

• Searches can be done by category (eBook, music, software…).

• The download process is sequential, meaning that qBittorrent offers streaming capability, with data downloaded in a linear order.

• Access a video or audio preview using a media player installed on your operating system (we recommend the open-source VLC player for maximum compatibility).

• It is possible to remotely control the software via a web interfaced (coded in Ajax). You can remotely control your downloads and shares. This is ideal for those users who are on the move, or those who wish to manage activity depending on the exact location you’re operating from.

• Prioritise your downloads and shares by queuing them in order to save your bandwidth.

• Automatically download content via RSS feeds. This feature is ideal for anyone who wishes to stay up-to-date with current news, with the latest videos of news stories and shows automatically downloaded from sites that offer an RSS feed.

• Distributed Hash Table (DHT) support is implemented, allowing for a “key/value” data structure wherein each piece of data is associated with a key that will ultimately be distributed across your network in an intelligent manner to effectively distribute data storage across all nodes on the network, rather than just one point.

• Also enjoy the benefits of Peer Exchange (PEX) support which, in addition to the effective use of DHT hash tables and BitTorrent tracker sharing, allows for the discovery of new nodes (or peers) to improve your local performance by reducing the load on trackers.

• Protocol scrambling that’s compatible with Vuze (a commercial platform dedicated to video) is also offered. This system implements Protocol Encryption (PE) scrambling, Message Stream Encryption (MSE), as well as Protocol Header Encryption (PHE) scrambling.

• You will also be able to use a proxy server, with the key function here being to speed up your browsing by utilising a caching and data compression system. This will also serve to improve the security of your local network, keeping it protected and anonymous by use of an intermediate server. However, this will ultimately depend on the proxy server you’re using and on your individual security and anonymity requirements.

• A particularly interesting feature is IP address filtering via a shared blacklist that is compatible with P2P networks of both eMule and PeerGuardian. This helps avoid any suspicious file activity in the upstream.

• In addition to all of the above, you will find a raft of first-rate technical functions that combine to deliver an efficient experience and user-friendly controls over your trackers and/or network links.

This less than exhaustive list demonstrates the superiority of qBittorrent over other BitTorrent clients, towering above even the best commercial rivals, such as uTorrent.

However, it’s worth considering in detail what the results would be if we tested these two seemingly similar pieces of software against each other, with one being commercially licensed and the other being completely open-source.

专业磁力种子下载工具 qBittorrent 使用教程 - 知乎首发于利器切换模式写文章登录/注册专业磁力种子下载工具 qBittorrent 使用教程crystal前言种子和磁力链接是现在使用最为广泛的资源下载形式了，但是资源找到了，如何顺畅地下载下来也是个问题。qBittorrent 是一款开源免费的种子和磁力链接下载工具，支持 Windows、Mac 和 Linux，且功能非常强大。由于国内大部分用户并没有公网 IP，直接使用可能会有个很现实的问题——下载没速度！本文就介绍下 qBittorrent 从安装到使用的详细教程。qBittorrent 简介：下载、安装和使用qBittorrent 支持使用种子文件和磁力链接下载，包括了做种、tracker 编辑、下载优先级设置、RSS 订阅等功能非常丰富。官网：qBittorrent Official Website大家别光拿资源啊，都看到这里了，点个赞再走支持下作者呗Ｏ(≧口≦)Ｏ请仔细阅读全文，一些常见的问题文中已经有说明了的！！！# 下载 & 安装进入官网，Download 页面，选择适合自己的版本下载。双击安装，一路点击 “下一步” 完成安装即可，无需特别调整。安装完启动时会弹出一个声明，“同意”。# 添加下载点击左上角两个图标，分别添加磁力链接或种子。重点！添加磁力链接可能会一直显示 “正在检索元数据…” 很久，建议全部使用种子文件下载，比较快。如果只有磁力链接，可以先将其添加到迅雷极速版下载 -> 右键 -> 另存为种子文件。# 界面介绍主下载界面Trackers 和用户 - 显示资源的连接和下载情况内容 - 资源内文件管理和进度qBittorrent 高级设置及使用教程安装完成后首次打开需要设置下，以后直接使用即可。# 路由器开启 UPnP / NAT-PMP 功能大多数用户都是内网网络，连接不上节点造成下载没速度，虽然有时也能用，但速度有限。路由器开启端口映射可以改善资源连接情况，热门资源可以满速下载。查看说明书登陆路由器后台，在设置中找到 UPnP/NAT-PMP 选项，开启并保存，然后重启。ps. 现在比较新的路由器有的找不到该选项，一般都会默认开启，具体可以询问下客服。# 添加 trackers 优化下载速度（重要！）添加 trackers 可以帮助我们连接到更多的资源节点，解决下载没速度的问题，给下载加速，是必备操作！可以在搜索引擎和 GitHub 中搜索 trackers list 获取列表，添加到 qBittorrent 中。trackers 是用来优化下载速度的，多多益善。复制 trackers 们打开 qBittorrent -> 工具 -> 选项 -> BitTorrent，下拉到末尾，将 trackers 粘贴进输入框，并勾选 “自动添加以下 trackers 到新的 torrents”，OK。粘贴进 qBittorrent 中建议每天使用前都先更新 trackers 一次。也可以在 Trackers 界面通过右键 -> 添加新的 tracker。# 连接 DHT 节点软件底部状态栏有一个 “DHT 节点”，连接上后可以通过 DHT 网络进行下载，改善下载情况。开启软件后会自动连接，连上 DHT 节点需要一定时间，连上后尽量不要关闭客户端，因为每次重启都要重新连接。连不上可以进入选项 -> 连接 -> 点随机，修改下监听端口，建议使用高位端口，也可以勾选 “在每次启动时使用不同的端口”。# 调整下载优先级qBittorrent 可以对文件的优先级进行调整，优先下载级别更高的文件。在内容界面，右键选择文件 -> 优先。Tips（常见问题）1、状态栏的 “插头” 是黄色的（不是绿色）：不影响下载，只有文件有上传了才会变绿。2、添加磁力链接，qBittorrent 一直显示 “正在下载元数据”：这个最常见了，相当于在等待下载种子信息。强烈建议使用种子文件进行下载，就不会出现这个了。3、连不上 DHT 节点：先下一个热门种子试试，DHT 涨起来了再下载。4、理论上 trackers 和 DHT 网络有一种连上了在工作，就有速度。还没速度查看下用户、种子、trackers 等的连接情况，如果都为 0 可能是死链，建议换热门的资源。5、磁力种子的下载速度依赖于资源数量和广大用户的上传做种，上传分享的人越多，速度越快。6、建议下载完后不要急着移除任务，上传做种，可以设置下上传速度或时间，原因就是上一条。结语qBittorrent 的使用方法和常见问题等上面基本都介绍到了，看起来可能有点麻烦，但只要第一次使用时设置好就行了，以后打开直接添加任务使用即可。其它的如做种、种子搜索等功能根据提示操作就好，不再介绍。常见的还有 uTorrent、BitComet 等，都是纯正的 BT 下载软件，功能上也差不多。大家别光收藏啊，码文不易，都看到这里了，点个赞再走呀 ╰(￣▽￣)╭ ~编辑于 2023-04-19 16:56・IP 属地河南软件下载工具互联网赞同 6180364 条评论分享喜欢收藏申请转载文章被以下专栏收录利器优质应用软件、网站和工具推荐，实用技巧、教程

A feature-rich and customizable interface that includes a built-in torrent creation tool

Which operating systems are supported by qBittorrent?

qBittorrent is compatible with the vast majority of operating systems such as GNU/Linux, BSD, all the versions of macOS and Windows.

Is it legal to use qBittorrent?

qBittorrent is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing software. Although the software is perfectly legal, it may be illegal to download or share some content, depending on local law.

Is qBittorrent's Anonymous mode private enough?

Anonymous mode doesn't provide strong privacy guarantees on its own. If you are concerned about copyright troubles, consider using a VPN instead. When the Anonymous mode is enabled, qBittorrent takes certain measures to try to mask your identity, preventing your BitTorrent traffic from being associated with you.
